My Goddess workbook 2012

I’m working my way through My Goddess 2012 workbook and I’m on the page about how would I like to celebrate my birthday this year.

I love my birthday and its not until June so I have plenty of time to plan and decide how I want to spend my day.

The picture above was the strawberry margarita that I made for my birthday BBQ last year. I think that would be a good tradition to uphold, let me go and put that on my page quickly before I forget! The ones I made at Christmas weren’t quite as good, but still did the trick.

Handmade Living issue 9

Handmade Living only has a few weeks left as the newest magazine in our collection before Modern Quilting and Handmade Fashion come along and steal its thunder, so I wanted to take a little bit of time to share some information about it with you.

Handmade Living was launched in April 2010, Charlotte and I wanted to launch a magazine that was more than just a general craft mag, a magazine that had cookery and gardening and craft and fashion and lots of other lifestyle bits and bobs inside.

Judging by the number of subscribers, news stand sales and ad revenue I think we succeeded. I’m really excited about all the possibilities that we have to offer with this magazine and I know that 2012 is going to be a great year for the magazine.

If you want to subscribe or buy a single issue of Handmade Living, you can either click here or phone Mandy on 01279 879038

A day in the life of a 2 year old

Today Wayne and I only have our 2 year old at home, the rest are out with their aunt doing grown up things on the last day of the holidays.

I realised this morning that we never ask Reid what she wants to do as she always just follows the rest of us around so when we had eaten breakfast I said to her, right then Reid - what are we going to do today.

First on the list, painting. Followed by colouring. So we sat at the kitchen table and made a good old mess. We drew flowers, cars, christmas trees, drew around out hands and painted them, used our thumbs and fingers and an old eraser to paint with and had a good old time. Then she stopped, said I’m finished now, lets wash our hands and that was the end of painting.

Then she wanted to go for a walk. So we put on our wellies and hats and headed out to the Flitch way (this is an old train track that hasn’t been used for years and that runs 15 miles - its about 20 yards from our back door) We walked, climbed hills, stomped in mud and puddles, picked some grass, played with sticks, chased dogs, said morning to people on bikes and joggers and stood under the bridge and shouted hello and laughed at the echos.

On the way back she looked up at me and said “watch Gnomeo and Juliet next?” with such a smile on her face that I couldn’t say no. We got home and she sat on the sofa and asked for the quilt over her. I sat next to her, she covered me up to and then shouted “dad, we’re ready now”

So here we are on the sofa watching Gnomeo and Juliet. I wonder what she has in mind for us this afternoon? I love this little one….

Klout

One thing that I want to do in January is to get my Klout score up to above 60. Now its hovering at 58.

I know some people don’t value Klout scores and that there is a lot of general unrest about the whole “who’s popular on the internet” culture but it suits my competitive nature to have a number next to my name. Its suits the control freak in me to be able to post lots on twitter and fb and here and actively try to connect to people and open discussions and see what effect that has on my Klout score. I like it.

But I’d like it even more if I could get my score up to over 60.

Creative Scribbling

I love encouraging the kids to draw and write. I found this old envelope with Brooke’s interpretation of how our family will look in 2018.

I love the fact that she has us living in a cottage with Wayne doing the gardening and me riding around on a horse while she drives Trin and Cam around in her car. I plan to save this and show her it in 2018 and see how right she was.
