Did you know that a lot of people don’t actually read a whole article before they share it online?
I know I don’t always click and read something in full before I Retweet a link to it. If it comes from a trusted source and the title is really interesting, I am likely to hit RT before I read the whole thing, because I know it’s likely to be good!
This just goes to show how important a really kick arse headline can be in your social media. If I see one more tweet that looks like this: “New blog post http://www.myawesomeblog” then I might just cry.
Because really, who cares about your new blog post?! Not me. Not the rest of twitter. But your mum probably does.
My mum reads every tweet I post and is super proud of me for doing what so many other people do all the time. So yes, if your ideal customer is your mum then you’re well in there. Assuming you are looking to get other people to read your blog posts then you’re going to want to consider a better title.
Here are some great examples of ‘clickable’ tweets!
What are these people doing differently?
They are pulling interesting quotes from their content.
They are being human, and showing their personality.
They are asking their followers a question.
They are being really clear about what you’re going to learn to get from clicking on that tweet.
So are you ready to stop being boring online? Tell me in the comments below how this post is going to change how you post on social media, not just twitter!
